Curriculum

Every grade level at Harrison Elementary (K-5) receives Second Step. This evidence-based curriculum is taught by the regular classroom teacher with a goal of decreasing behavioral concerns in the classroom. Skills include:

Self-regulation skills
Positive self-talk
Focusing attention
Listening
Being assertive
Executive functioning
and much more!

Students that need a little extra attention with academics and/or behaviors may be pulled in for Social Academic Instructional (SAIG) small groups. This is considered a Tier 2 intervention. Lessons focus on:

Pro-social skills
Mindfulness training
Problem solving skills
Academic behavior skills
And much more!

Harrison Elementary School takes bullying very seriously. Our school uses this curriculum to address bullying incidents proactively. This curriculum also helps others:

Define bullying
Recognize bullying
Identify warning signs of bullying
Consider the impact of bullying
Knowing how to respond in bullying situations
